Salabue is a professional online Auction and Appraisal firm totally dedicated to the consortium trade of fine musical instruments. We are conveniently located in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, PA.

Salabue is a company founded on the promise of fair trading practices by means of collaborative networking enabled by effective communications between players, members of the trade, and collectors of rare fine instruments.


Salabue aims to offer a gratifying auction experience and premier a la carte services to everyone interested in fine beautiful instruments of the violin family. The same level of professionalism care is provided for all sellers and their instruments which are provided upmost care given with online access to a thriving international market.

Our Website is aimed to be a state of the art easy to use informative online site for the Appraisal and Auction of Violin Family Instruments and Bows. All previous auction sales shall be archived and accessible to registered users. Information about Classical, Modern, and Contemporary makers and their instruments is also made accessible by means of digital imaging.

Location of Auction

Salabue Auctions has its business base in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, Pa. Our Live auctions will be held at various locations throught the year in order to allow viewings of the beautiful instruments and bows that are made available by their owners for auction.

Luthier Service

Some instruments that come to Salabue unfortunately may have not been played for years, and are therefore in need of TLC or minor repairs such as a new setup (pegs, tailpiece, bridge, sound post, strings). Janos Bodor Jr., is our resident Luthier whom is listed on page 29 of the book “The Violin Makers of the United States” by Thomas James Wenberg. Janos Bodor is also an expert on Older Italian and European instruments whom worked alongside with Sergio Peresson at the firm of William Moennig and Sons for 25 years restoring and maintaining many instruments by Stradivarius, Guarneri, Amati, Montagnana, Goffriller, Gagliano, Scarampella, etceteras…. Any costs relating to minor or major restoration work needed by instruments before placed at auction is discussed with owners beforehand and may be deducted from the sale proceeds.


Catalogs are distributed by Subscription and attributions made thereof are only intended as bona fide reference material.

Tax Advice

All Sales made Online and at the “Live Auction” may be subject to Local, State, and Federal Luxury Taxation. Certified Public Accountant advise in writing to Prospective Buyers and Sellers may be provided upon request at a flat fee when it pertains to items sold as a part of a Will, Estate, or Trust.
